Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1) infections are acquired through direct person to person contact, most typically by a nongenital route. HSV 2 infections are usually acquired through sexual contact. This assay helps in determining recent exposure as well as previous exposure to HSV Types 1 & 2.
